The act was an intuitive, absurd one - to serve rice on the windowsill for the birds, ritualistically and meticulously -as if it is a fine dine experience. The video performance takes gestures from the crematory Hindu rituals where rice is offered to birds who carry prayers to the dead. Offering allowed me to slow down and create a space to bring attention to each grain, and give them their due.
