This project deals with the inability to hold on to material history, and failure of being able to archive, while also digging into memory of lived experience like looking at changing light, fragrance, navigating through space, and tracing architectural patterns with fingers.
My ancestral home in the village of Gariyadhar, Gujarat has housed multiple generations of my maternal family being over 120 years old. Materials gathered from my last trip to the house are arranged informed by various family stories; the past family business in perfumes, and magical myths about this house.The work here is a mobile, malleable archive that shifts form and reconstructs memory each time it is exhibited.
